MACHINE QUILTING
Machine quilting is one way to anchor your patchwork quilt top.
The three layers of the quilt are carefully prepared but you need to consider how to get
these through your sewing machine.
Look at the volume of the quilt with wadding and then look at the hole between the sewing
head and the main body of your machine.
It is obviously easier to quilt in straight lines on a sewing machine. Plan the easiest
way to stitch.
Roll up your patchwork quilt sandwich into a sausage shape and use
quilters bicycle clips to control the quilt as it passes through the machine.
A walking foot, sometimes called a dual feed foot, for your machine will help to prevent
the layers of the quilt walking independently or puckering.
